Artwork note

Broad cream, beige, and pale blue shapes sit beneath a dense veil of white and near-white marks. Differences arrive through temperature and opacity rather than strong contrast, with small traces of pink, green, and yellow held inside the high-key square.

Artist's note

Baylis set a high-key palette and toned back the colour so he could concentrate on the range of white.
